24 August, Sunday
Activity: Mass
Celebrant: ~
Location: Georgia Tech Catholic Center
Comments: Attended the 11:30am mass and it was full house, nice to see so many Catholic students gathering to celebrate Mass.
28 August, Wednesday
Activity: Mass
Celebrant: ~
Location: Georgia Tech Catholic Center
Comments: 30 minute weekday mass passed over very quickly. I liked that they recited a devotion to Mother Mary and St Michael's after mass. The only thing is that I hadn't memorized it prior and was a little lost. Been a most challenging period for me and I felt God telling me during mass and reminding me of His Blessed Assurance. And yet, the challenges remain. To take up my Cross and follow Him.
29 August, Friday
Activity: Sacrament of Reconciliation
Celebrant: ~
Location: Georgia Tech Catholic Center
Comments: Confessed to the priest that I've been unkind to my husband, homesick and lonely. He asked when I arrived and I said 1.5 weeks ago and he mentioned that that's not even enough time to recover from jetlag! He told me to be patient (as what my loved ones have been telling me), and that to whine would extend my homesickness, and that in time, I would feel at home, and happy here, and happier when I get to go home too.
Activity: Mass
Celebrant: Visiting Priest from a community in Jerusalem who serves the elderly population
Location: Georgia Tech Catholic Center
Comments: He mentioned that it was nice to see so many young people attend weekday mass, and honestly, I was also surprised. Although he mentioned that once in a Catholic university, there were 200 or was it 2,000 young people attending daily mass!
I begun exercising after meeting my competitive climber husband! Seeing how I was stressed, he encouraged me to exercise. I started in 2011 with jogging, full body toning and swiss ball. In 2012, I rekindled contemporary dance, ballet and pilates. In 2013, I restarted yoga. I now do bodyworks plus abs, boot camp, zumba, yoga, cardio jam and treadmill. As Catholics, prayer is central to our lives. Prayer feeds our soul as exercise fuels the body. My desire is to lead a life with eternity in mind!

Exercise (August 2014)
1 August, Friday
Activity: Stretch and Tone
Organizer: NUS University Health Centre Wellness Division
Instructor: Rachel Ong
Location: NUS Yusof Ishak House Rhythm Studio
Teacher-Student Ratio: 1:10+
Comments: Our pilates class disbanded due to a lack of interested participants, and a few of us regrouped into the earlier stretch and tone class. I felt more on form and able to control and execute my movements. An enjoyable class which either meant that I strengthened my core or that Rachel lowered the standards (she did concede that stretch and tone is less strenuous than pilates). Looking forward to what's cooking this weekend!
2 & 3 August, Saturday & Sunday
Activity: Swimming/ Lounging
Location: Swisshotel Stamford Suite
Comments: Was really disappointing to see that the pool consists of two circles. One children's and one adults. Swam without goggles through the circumference of the pool to train my arms and core.
Sunday's swim involved leaping into the pool after a Sunday continental brunch by the pool :D. And this was yoga, post swim and post-brunch.
4 August, Wednesday
Activity: Full body toning
Organizer: NUS Staff Club
Instructor: Bryan
Location: NUS Staff Club Aerobics Studio
Teacher-Student Ratio: 1:25
Comments: Felt very conscious of my fatigue, perspiration and stickiness. Which I normally don't. Felt like it was one of the toughest workouts yet, with my thighs trembling in the washroom post-workout!
8 August, Friday
Activity: Stretch and Tone
Organizer: NUS University Health Centre Wellness Division
Instructor: Rachel Ong
Location: NUS Yusof Ishak House Rhythm Studio
Teacher-Student Ratio: 1:15
Comments: Felt an ache in my back and feeling lethargic. Perhaps due to my slow recovery from my sickness. Second exercise for the week and I am flat out and done for the week. :)
10 August, Sunday
Activity: Swimming/ Lounging
Location: Cassia View
Comments: Did poolside yoga and swimming, which attracted the attention of a Romanian dude who chatted me up and told me that I was flexible and wanted to add me on Facebook. I did not agree of course :).
11 August, Monday
Activity: Full body toning
Organizer: NUS Staff Club
Instructor: Bryan
Location: NUS Staff Club Aerobics Studio
Teacher-Student Ratio: 1:20
Comments: Told myself to go slow as I was feeling under the weather, kept yawning before class begun but I actually totally enjoyed pumping things up! I liked that I've a *surprisingly* good memory to remember aerobic routines, although I suck at recalling contemporary routines. J commented that my abs and legs were toned, but that my arms didn't look toned at all, so today's arm exercises with weights, motivated me to go all the way, but it really ached. Feels fine now, but I'm pretty sure I'll feel it tomorrow!
14 to 17 August, Thursday to Sunday
Activity: Swimming
Organizer: Chie
Location: Atleenta Phuket Resort
Teacher-Student Ratio: 1:20
Comments: Celebrated my best friend from exchange, Chie's wedding, in Phuket, and it was lovely. Swam a bit every day, from our villa's infinity pool, to the villa's shared pool, including staring out into the night sky catching shooting stars whilst the waves envelop us etc. Hadn't felt so relaxed in a while.

23 August, Saturday
Activity: Bodyworks Plus Abs
Instructor: Karuna
Location: LA Fitness at Atlantic Station
Teacher-Student Ratio: 1:10
Comments: Hadn't exercised for so long and my thighs are aching 2 days after from the squats. Been awhile since I pushed myself so hard and wanted to give up after 15 minutes. It was one hour of pure torture, perspiring bucketloads. Best part was that at the end of the class, the instructor came up to me as I was new, and I had thanked her for correcting my postures, and she asked if I was from Singapore, based on my accent. Turns out that she was just in Singapore as her cousin lived there. I wrote her a 5 star rating review on LA Fitness Facebook page and can't wait to be back! I've highly visible consistent abs by now =).
25 August, Monday
Activity: Yoga (Vinyasa Flow)
Instructor: Erica
Location: LA Fitness at Atlantic Station
Teacher-Student Ratio: 1:10
Comments: It was good to have something different from Rashita's normal yoga sequence which I'm already accustomed to. Instructor didn't seem to like me though, she did not acknowledge my presence but I think I'm slowly getting used to it after the nasty incident over lunch when these big, black burly ladies insisted I cut their queue on purpose =`(. I was feeling anxious the entire day and yoga didn't actually calm me down. It wasn't even enough of a workout. She said we would perspire but not a single drop of perspiration fell. The class was too basic for me, but I guess it's good to intersperse aerobic and stretching.
26/7 August, Tuesday
Activity: Zumba
Instructor: Ebony
Location: LA Fitness at Atlantic Station
Teacher-Student Ratio: 1:10
Comments: I was dying after 15 minutes, which is a good sign, and I was perspiring shit loads, although less than bodyworks plus abs. Quite enjoyable to dance around to different routines, although I prefer my previous Zumba experience at Celebrity Fitness with Ye Qing! Was pleasantly surprised that we even used weights. Only downside is a creepy big black burly guy came in and made sexually suggestive gestures at our moves =`(. Getting used to this place called Atlanta.
29 August, Thursday
Activity: Yoga
Instructor: Erica
Location: LA Fitness at Atlantic Station
Teacher-Student Ratio: 1:30
Comments: Significantly bigger class. It was promising in the first half with more intensity i.e. push-ups and the core, but it got easier and easier. I think I'm done with yoga at LA Fitness, just not satisfactory, even the plow and wheel pose, which are the norm if Rashita's class, is considered difficult here =\.
